Amateur Radio Station KG4EZQ

Equipment

I live in an appartment, and am not allowed to have any antennas. I have installed an array of ten antennas in my attic and have been using them with some sucess for nearly 2 years. Outdoor antennas remain a definate no-go, actually I don't have permission for the indoor antennas, but I figure forgiveness is easier to get than permission. While I certainly don't have a world-class contesting station, I am pleased to have what I do. Below is a list of the equipment that I have and how it is used.

Yaesu FT-857D: Used for HF SSB and PSK31, backup 2M/440 FM

MFJ Model 969 Tuner: Primary antenna tuner for HF, I have another similar model for backup

Yaesu FT-2800M: Primary 2M FM radio.

RadioShack HTX-242: VHF Packet Radio, dedicated standalone station.

Kantronics KPC-3 TNC: Used with the HTX-242 for Packet operations.

Yaesu FT-7800M: Mobile 2M/440 radio in my truck.

Uniden Bearcat BCT8 Scanner:Used to monitor local police/fire/medic/air/rail traffic

Antennas

HF: I have a total of 5 active antennas for HF. They include a 20 Meter dipole, a 15 Meter dipole, a modified G5RV, a 10 Meter quarterwave and the infamous Slinky antenna. All of these antennas are homebrewed, and they are all secretly installed in the attic of my second story apartment.

VHF/UHF: I have a total of 4 active antennas for VHF and UHF. They include 2 Arrow antenna J-Poles, a Diamond XR-50 and a homebrew 2M fixed beam. These antennas are also installed in the attic of my apartment.
